Dave and the family head out for the top of Tioga Pass in Yosemite, while the Duggar family heads out to an interview with Megyn Kelly on FOX news. One trip was a blast, the other promises to be an exercise in futility.
The State Senate President doesn’t want to talk about his hiring of two State Retirees to drive Drunk Senators home in the middle of the night. But he does want to get on his soapbox and whine about One Person One Vote, which is basically his own power structure.
The GOP has an opportunity here to really unite the base and show what they believe. Will they take it? Not a chance. But in the process, Dave discovers why he disagrees with Ron Paul (and by extension, Rand Paul).
The House apparently voted yesterday to “defund” portions of the Department of Homeland Security. As other have pointed out, the bill faces a virtually unwinnable fight in the Senate and if it manages to get out, a guaranteed veto by the President. So did Speaker Boehners fiery anti-Obama speech on the House floor yesterday actually mean a shift in the GOP’s attitude toward Mr. Obama? Speculation is that the entire dog and pony show yesterday was designed to placate the Conservative base, knowing full well that when the whole debate starts again after the Bill is rejected by either the GOP controlled Senate or the Vetoed by the Democrat President that the House then folds up and funds the Illegal Immigration amnesty anyway.
I tend to believe the theory because, as I have said all along, the GOP’s main problem with Executive Amnesty is that they get no credit for doing it, not that they they oppose it on Constitutional or any other grounds. The proof, as they say, is in the pudding, and that is found in the fact that TWENTY-SIX REPUBLICANS “BROKE RANKS” AND VOTED WITH THE DEMOCRATS against the amendment. Included among the Republicans who wanted to go head and fund the executive Amnesty yesterday was my own Congressman, “Tea Party Conservative” Jeff Denham (also HERE). As an aside, I find it interesting that the Fresno Bee covered the fact that Valley Congressmen voted against the amendment, while the Modesto Bee, Denham’s hometown newspaper, has (so far) not. I am amazed and humbled by the outpouring of well-wishes and regards from so many of listeners and readers. Thank you, it meant the world to me and helped get me through Thursday. I really do not know what the future holds for me. For the time being, I am going to go “Mr. Mom” for a few weeks, while continuing to blog and set up my home office, work on my Stockton Ports Blog and catch up on some TV. I also have two writing projects that I want to get off the ground and complete. One is a fiction work I’ve blogged about before involving a U-Boat in WWII, the other a work based on Constitution Thursday.
Yes, at some point in the future I would like to bring back the show in some form, whether on the air or perhaps as an “on demand” via a podcast. Once the home Office/Studio is set up, the LPOV will begin recording Constitution Thursday episodes again. The phone number – 565-DAVE – is still active if you want to text me or leave me a voice mail. The Twitter handle has changed to @DaveBowmanShow, and I do have a working and functional eMail address (HERE), and now that I have a bit more free time, I might even read them! Thank you again for the encouragement and support. It means the world to me.
For the time being, the blog will continue as before… Read the rest of this entry
