We are learning more and more about the AD21 Race between Mobley and Gray, including that Mobley “didn’t want to finance his own campaign,” but THE GOP TALKED HIM INTO RUNNING AGAIN, despite his previous three losses. Now that there has been some half a million dollars funneled to Mobley by the State GOP, Democrats are hopping mad and screaming about unlawful collusion. This is what Prop 14 has wrought – ridiculous campaigns with massive funding for what was a “write-in” candidate who literally needed 1 vote to “win” a spot on the November ballot. With noted Republicans endorsing the Democrat and CAGOP money pouring into a race that seems rather unlikely to have “a path to victory,” this one race seems to embody everything that is wrong with the Prop 14 system, given to us personally by Abel “What’s In It For Me?” Maldanado.
Of course there are “MORE SUPPORTERS THAN DETRACTORS FOR TUBBS.” People are putting any factor they can find above the simple fact that Elected Officials are not above the law, and that they should be examples n leadership and god citizenship. Driving on Hwy-99 with a 0.137 BAC is neither of those and shows extremely poor judgment. His lie that he “thought he was okay to drive” is reason enough to question anything that comes out of his mouth. But instead, kids called for to “step down OR join us against Police brutality.” I say this again – ANY elected politician who is popped DUI, I don’t care what party, race, creed, color or sex, should immediately resign. Period.
Yesterday I briefly mentioned (during “MEN” (Mandatory Ebola News)) that there are idiots out there selling Ebola snake oils, including one that purports to be a “NATURAL HOMEOPATHIC METHOD” to “prevent” the Ebola. It’s sad that the Government has to step in to stop these people, but even sadder that some of us would have been willing to take their snake oil.
Apparently Rosie doesn’t want to attract a younger, hipper audience. She had a thrombo at the idea of FLASH SELLING ‘THE VIEW’ MERCHANDISE and dd a “younger host.” By the by, nobody actually cares about this, but talking about them is how we attract a younger and hipper audience. Plus they have to look up the word “thrombo” which I am trying to return to general use among the plebs as I think that it was a great word.
Game 1 turned out to be a Giants feeding frenzy. Did you know that the team that wins Game 1 wins the World Series 68% of the time? Still hoping for seven, but it’s looking like that time off my have really put out the Royals fires. Can they get steam up in time?
I am feeling a whole lot better this morning, guess my immune system overwhelmed that little virus – whichever one it was – and now I am back in complete working order. It’s an eye opener though to be reading about West Nile viruses, the Ebola and Influenza pandemic and wake up with all the symptoms of the illnesses. I never thought I had any of them, but it sure gives you a moment to pause before you throw up. Anyway, back up and running, and apologies to anybody else I may have infected yesterday.
A week from today I will be in Washington, D.C. with the Central Valley Honor Flight. This extra-special trip leaves from the former Castle Air Base early Monday morning with some 75 WWII Vets and one very honored to have been invited Cold War Veteran as a media representative. I should have plenty of time to talk with Vets, see the sights and see some things that didn’t exist the last time I was in DC, including the Navy Memorial which is on the itinerary. We will also attend a Changing of the Guard Ceremony at Arlington, which I have been to, it never seen the ceremony. My costs are covered, but there is still opportunity for you to donate to help send another WWII Veteran on an Honor Flight. Please go to CENTRAL VALLEY HONOR FLIGHT and donate. We’ve asked every listener to give just $1, but feel free to go above and beyond the call of duty.
By the way, you can follow me on FACEBOOK and TWITTER (@davebowman1360) for live update’s and I will check in with the show early each afternoon to let you know what’s going on with the Honor Flight Folks.
After all the hullaballoo and flop and twitch, the City of Modesto HAS HIRED A NEW CITY MANGER, the same guy they already hired as the temp. On a unanimous vote, no less, after he turned out to be the only finalist for the job.
A Stockton City Councilman is in trouble for a DUI. HIS BAC WAS 0.137 WHEN HE WAS STOPPED ON HWY-99, a road I travel often and frankly it pisses me off that an elected representative is stupid enough to get behind the wheel drunk. I don’t care about what he may r may not have done as a Councilman – he fails the test of trust the second he drinks and drives. He is NOT QUALIFIED to be in charge of others and should resign immediately. He won’t of course, because he “made a mistake,” or “takes responsibility,” or whatever trite and meaningless phrase he can come up with. He’s lucky, at least he didn’t kill somebody, as HAPPENED IN MODESTO ON SUNDAY. But ask yourself how many times you drive that route, and did you know that this idiot drunk that you pay taxes for his salary was DUI on it? I have to honest here, any elected official popped for DUI who smiles like that for his booking photo deserves a thumping at the polls. Frankly, if you drink and drive, you should not be in an elected seat, period.
Some good news after the dog attack, the 77 YEAR OLD MOTHER OF THE VICTIM IS IMPROVING. That seemed highly unlikely a few days ago, but she is pulling through. Sadly, what she will face if she recovers will be heartbreaking, as there will most likely be no one held accountable for her sons brave death.
The GOP has stepped up to support Jack Mobley in his run (again) against Adam Gray for State Assembly. This is another of the Prop 14 oddities in that Mobley launched a (very) late write in campaign in the Primary, and since Gray was “unopposed,” Mobley literally needed 1 vote (his own?) to get into the General election. Interesting strategy that I think that we may see more and more of in the coming years. At any rate, the GOP has poured some $356,000 into the Mobley campaign just in October. Clearly they think that they have something going here and they can’t be happy about GOP Stalwarts jumping ship and endorsing Gray. If nothing else, the people who watch these things have moved AD21 from “Democrat” to “Leans Democrat,” based n the latest registration numbers for Mail in Ballots received so far.
The World Series opens up tonight in Kansas City. On paper this is the kind of matchup for which we’ve been waiting. Hopefully the nearly a week off hasn’t rusted the bolts on the two teams. I’m praying for seven extra inning classic games. The last delicious morsels of the 2014 Baseball season are on the plate, and I intend to savor them for as long as I can. Most people seem to think that because I am a lifelong Dodger fan (when I was I kid there were no Rockies) I am automatically pulling for KC. Not true. I have a lot of friends who are Giants fans, and I like seeing them happy. On the other hand I have only my family long ago connection to KC (my grandfather was born on the Kansas side) and one Navy quasi-friend who was from there who I got to wake up and tell him that the Royals had won it all in 1985. I really don’t mind ether team winning, as long as it’s great series. How about 7 extra inning one run games with heroic catches and clutch hitting? One for the ages, as they say…
So a Tampa ubiquitous green themed coffee shoppe had a “record” setting 378 PEOPLE PAY IT FORWARD YESTERDAY. Not sure how I feel about these things. I rarely have the means to pay for somebody else’s order, so I am pretty sure that I had been #2 in the line, it would have ended there. I wonder how many of those 378 people felt similar to me, but also felt the peer pressure of a perky barista telling them about the number and how great it would be if instead of the $2 cup of coffee they wanted they paid $12 for the person behind them to have a Gianta coffaccino frappe with whipped cream and a double shot of vanilla espresso. What I am saying is that somebody got hosed on this deal. Combined with the uncomfortable and pushy ALS ice bucket challenge, it has me asking what happened to charity being a private thing instead of being shamed into giving to somebody else’s idea of what I should support? For the record, my charitable giving goes to the VFW, and while I might ask people to support a project or event, it would never cross my mind to shame or embarrass anybody into supporting the causes I support. Things like this Tampa story make the news, but I wonder how many people it made feel oogy?
Shocker… a poll shows that Black and White America SEE THINGS DIFFERENTLY when it comes to race and the Police. Rarely do these polls serve any purpose except to exacerbate the divide by “proving” that it exists in the first place, as if you needed a poll to tell you that. Little, if any, effort will be expended into finding out why the two side see things differently. Talking heads will tell us it’s because of whatever pet theory they have for explaining the “racial divide” in America, while the underlying problems go unaddressed. It’s all about creating the story, then covering the fallout. I guess one of the questions that needs to be asked is how come there are no camera teams combing the mean streets of Staten Island?
I had questions about the report from the beginning, especially after the video of the immediate aftermath came out, but now it is reported that officer Wilson DID NOT HAVE A BROKEN ORBITAL SOCKET bone. That does not mean that Brown did not attack him or that he suffered some facial injury, but the degree to which that injury occurred is far less than was being reported.
Remember Bell, CA? The people there were running a parasitical relationship with the local illegal immigrants. Turns out that FERGUSON MAY HAVE HAD THE SAME KIND OF SCAM going on, using the Municipal Court to rack up more than $2 Million in fines and fees from the 22,000 people who live there.
Giants fans were understandably upset earlier this week when the Chicago Cubs grounds crew appeared the intentionally screw up the tarping process during and after a rain delay. The Giants even protested the game – a rain shortened loss – and won the protest. They replayed the game yesterday, the Giants lost (good), but now it turns out that there may have been more than chicanery going on. It may be that the CUBS ARE CHEAPSKATES and cut their grounds crew back to below minimum staffing in order to save a few bucks. That’s an even better reason to have upheld the Giants protest, since the pennant race shouldn’t be decided by a mediocre team with more than a management problem.
Here come the moral equivalency arguments over the PLRI killing each other. In this case, SHI’ITES ARE NOW ACCUSED OF MASSACRING SUNNI’S in central Iraq. This conflict has been going on since long before there was a western democracy, and it isn’t going to stop because of the Presidents’ Noel Peace Prize
