I have always loved the Winter Olympics. The Summer Games are fine – and I had a grand time attending them in 1996 – but for me, it’s the Winter Games that captivate and enthrall me. It is becoming clear that the Modesto City Council is coming apart at the seams over the Wood Colony debacle. Between the Mayors Saturday claim that this whole thing is his stand against the Chamber of Commerce to Jenny Kenoyer’s fist shake and even John Gunderson’s wild Facebook ramblings, it’s pretty obvious that things are not going as planned. It’s actually a simple case of not doing the right thing for the right reasons the first time.
Had they simply done what the people asked them to do, they wouldn’t be sweating the recall or trying to create the most absurd position statements that try to cover up and blame others instead of their own actions.
