I realize that there are certain subjects about which one is not allowed to express an opinion, solely depending on the hue of one’s dermis. That said, I have come to believe that a good deal of our problems can be traced to the idea that your or my opinion cannot have any value whatsoever because I don’t like you or you don’t like me. As Ovid once said, “It is right to learn. Even from one’s opponent” (yes, that’s a paraphrase because the Latin does not exactly translate into English, deal with it).
During the Democrat Party Not-a-Debate last week, Senator Kamala Harris blasted former Vice-President and Senator Joe Biden over his “record” on Court ordered mandatory busing of students to different schools during the 1970s. It was a planned line, as her Campaign immediately began selling T-Shirts with the phrase, “I was That Little Girl” on them for a mere $30 “donation” to her campaign fund.
A wise man once said that a piece of cloth with only one side makes for awful thin material. Much like the debate over reparations for slavery, there is another side to this Busing issue that gets lost and somehow or another forgotten. What is that side? Well… let’s get in the Wayback Machine and travel back to 1974, in Denver, Colorado…
Daylight Saving Time is upon us again and we start the traditional complaining about why we do this amazingly silly thing twice a year. If I had my druthers, I’d prefer that we always stay on DST, even though I went through the national experiment back in the 1970’s when Dick Nixon inflicted it upon us year round because of the energy crises. which wasn’t as much about an energy shortage as it was an economics lesson, and the last time anybody checked, was never actually solved. At any rate, DST has some advantages, but the constant switching back and forth is crazy. Pick one and stick with it. Plus Ben was up at 5:30am today.
Senator Fred Thompson died over the weekend. He was a great example of good, possibly even great, people being misled when he started shilling for overturning the Constitution and adopting the National Popular Vote system.
A Russian airliner crashes in Egypt and ISIL claims credit, even though pretty much nobody believes them. As of today, the airline rejects the theory of mechanical issues or pilot error, and says that the plane experienced “an external impact,” but won’t say what that means. reports are that Putin and Russia are pissed and they are allegedly moving tactical nukes closer to ISIL with the intention of using them. What if this was what they (Russia) wanted all along? Could this whole thing be a maskirovka?
Tomorrow is Election Day. Does it even matter?
