Dave’s Other Projects
One of the things you might not know about Dave is that he has other interests and pursuits outside of his show. In addition to helping and producing other shows for The Podcast 99 Network, Dave is a serious baseball fan, a writer and has other various projects that keep him busy. But he makes a major effort to keep the show separated from most of the other things he has going on.
But, if you really want to get to know Dave, here is a list of some (not all) of his other blogs and sites that will introduce you to the other things he really cares about:
Constitution Thursday: Dave has often said that if the regular show ever ends, Constitution Thursday will become his primary pursuit. The project started in January of 2010 and quickly became the most popular feature of the Radio show. Dave draws on his experience as a Naval instructor to study and learn the material and then condense it into a manageable and understandable presentation on the history of the Constitution, and how we got to where we are today. As he will tell you himself, the biggest surprise is how little he understood when he raised his right hand and swore to uphold and defend the Constitution on May 28, 1981.
Every episode is available on the website, and there is no necessity to go in order as most episodes are “stand alone.”
And DeForest Kelly as Dr. McCoy is Dave’s personal blog. Here you can find his rare pieces on his life and how things are going for him and his family. This is a more private side of Dave, including a good deal of things about his son and his thoughts about being a dad.
SSBN-727 is a newcomer to the list, and serves to collect and preserve memories and events of Dave and his shipmates who served aboard USS Michigan in the 1980’s. This blog is very new and will grow over time.
And David Whirled with All His Might is a very personal journal of Dave’s faith. Most of you know that he was raised in The Salvation Army, even serving as an Officer (ordained minister) himself in the 1990’s. But he will tell you that there was always something else calling to him. Like Spock turning away the discipline of Kolinar, Dave had to find his own way to meet the Deity. And in the fall of 2008, he finally did. This blog is his own faith on display and his own feelings about getting to know and understand why his path is the way that it is…
