Howards



Howard Shultz made the “courageous” decision yesterday to not run for President of the United States. Given that pretty much the only person with less support for President was Jay Inslee, it appears that maybe the nation isn’t ready for a Washingtonian Chief Executive. To make sure that you get his point, Shultz is blaming you for not supporting him. Which is why I really don’t care what Howard Shultz thinks about anything, including coffee.

Meanwhile, the MILSUPRWRITER brought up the story of the USS Pampanito and the amazing repairs of her leaking Ballast Tanks.

Which led me to remember a Howard that I actually do care about and the night that we had our own amazing adventure with Missile Tube 6…

The Good Old Days



Over the weekend, a Russian destroyer made a run at the USS Chancellorsville, nearly causing a collision between the two ships. This has much of the world in a tizzy, but the reality is that once upon a time this was a fairly common occurrence. If not common, at least not something about which governments and news agencies got their knickers in a wad over.

But the whole thing, along with the return of the Peace Protestors to the gates of Bangor, has Dave reminisces about his own time during the Cold War aboard USS Michigan SSBN-727(G). It was an amazing experience in a beautiful place…


The USS Michigan Reunion

The Reunion was a huge success. Seeing friends I hadn’t seen in 35 years was… well… amazing. These are just a taste of the main event…

On four of my six patrols (after my ships quals were complete) aboard USS Michigan, I was the Emcee for Halfway Night, with Larry Sloan as my producer. I cut my teeth being on a microphone in front of the crew. For me, this night was a coming full of the circle. Once again, in front of the shipmates I love and behind the microphone for them!
