Go And look For It…

The launch of Falcon Heavy has given us back something that we misplaced forty-five years ago. The belief that we can achieve more; the hope that tomorrow will be better; a chance to go where no one has gone before…

Are you one of those people who believe that the Memo “changes everything?”

Look, I don’t think that the Democrats are un-guilty of shenanigans during the 2016 election. i believe that power corrupts and that it seeks absolute power. At which point it becomes absolutely corrupted and must be destroyed. If Hillary Clinton thought that she needed to lie, cheat, steal or even abuse puppies to win, she would have ordered those who served her to have it done with plausible deniability without a second thought about it.

And it’s very possible, hell, even probable, that she did.

Having said that, do you really believe that this Memo changes or will change anything?

It *may* open up a few eyes of people who were on the fence politically and swing a few votes to the right – for the time being. Until the Republicans go and do something equally as stupid or nefarious. Then they will go right back.

The fact is that scandal and misconduct are the historical norms in our national politics. And there is nothing that will ever change that.

Because the only thing that could change it, won’t.

Don’t believe me?

Let me tell you a story of once upon a time in the United States Senate. A fellow by the name of Barry. No… not that guy, another one… who decided one day to write a “memo” about what was going on…

Chickens and Roosts and Dogs and Boycotts

121216-uspreselection2-1050x600As Monday dawns, the chatter from the weekend has been about Russia “tampering” with the US election. This has people posing all kinds of scenarios from a Manchurian Candidate to outright fraud. Of course, nothing is further from the truth, but neither side lets go of a good conspiracy theory if it feeds their confirmation bias and gets people to donate money to their cause.

Consider for a moment a couple of things, internationally countries have always “tampered” with other countries elections to very little avail, but also always deny it. In 1960, the Soviets were very clear that they preferred Kennedy over Nixon, and while they were not accused of directly interfering, they were accused of doing things that favored Kennedy. Which was weird because Kennedy was the hardliner who kept talking about the “missile gap” and the need to contain communism. As we would later learn, the Soviets were flat out scared of Nixon and believed that he would not have hesitated to start a war, whereas they believed Kennedy was bluster and bluff, especially since he knew that there was no “missile gap” but it appealed to voters he needed.

In the end, there is something rather amusing about the same Administration that openly admits that it tried to influence another countries election – a close ally –  and in fact spent your money to do so, but failed, crowing now about how Russia tried to “influence” our election. You can’t really have it both ways. Either you stay out of it and accept the outcomes or you try to influence them and then whine about how the chickens come home to roost. Original Intent

Did you know that the INTENT of the folks who gave us Prop 11 and Prop 20 was to apply the “Top 2” Primary System to the Presidential election as well as the state levels? Think about that for second – if these folks get their way, you will NOT be permitted to vote for ANY Presidential Candidate except the “top two primary” winners, i.e. the GOP and the Democrat. I said back then that this violates the 1st Amendments prohibitions against preventing freedom of association, and probably the 14th Amendment equal protection as well. I predict that if The Independent Voter Project gets their way, you will lose your right to vote for whomever you wish and lawsuits should and will be filed. And just wait until either the GOP or the Democrat Candidate manages to come in 3rd in the Primary’s (and it will eventually happen). Then you will see the lawsuits fly like crazy.
