Neo-Soviet Tomf#@*ery

Despite all the hoopla and pearl clutching over the indictment of some Russians for “meddling” in the 2016 elections, I remain unimpressed and unconvinced. These thirteen interlopers did not convince me to not vote for Hillary Clinton.

Hillary Clinton convinced me not to vote for Hillary Clinton.

Nevertheless, we continue to be told that the Russians somehow or another tricked or caused enough of you to not only not vote for Clinton but TO vote for Trump that all that we have ever known and loved has been utterly destroyed.

But there’s a huge dichotomy here. First, according to the only interesting part of the entire indictment sent out by Mueller, is appears that some Americans are too dumb to know when they are being trolled. The Russians fooled them into NOT voting Hillary and into voting FOR trump. The indictment continues to tell them that they were so stupid that they fell for it and that they continue to fall for it.

Second, that too many Americans are too dumb to know when they are being trolled.

The problem is, of course, that this is nothing new. Not only is it not new, it’s one of the oldest games in politics.

Oh… and if we’re dumb enough to fall for Russian tomfuckery, doesn’t it follow axiomatically that we are also too dumb to see the spin control?

After the most recent school shooting the calls have come again to “do something.” It’s standard “Politicians Logic” – We must do something, this is something, therefore we must do this…

Many have suggested that we simply “hire” unemployed Veterans, give them arms and let them guard the schools. This is another manifestation of Politicians Logic, which – if you think about things – doesn’t make much sense and also perpetuate the idea that all Vets are somehow or another unemployed and available to do your bidding.

This past week was the 100th anniversary of the sinking of SS Tuscania. It’s most likely that you’ve never heard of this. After all, it was 100 years ago and it wasn’t the most deadly sinking of a US Troopship in history. But it was the first involving United States troops. It was the first time ever that US men were killed on their way to the battlefields of Europe.

But that’s not even the really interesting part of the story. One of the American troops aboard the Tuscania that day survived the sinking. We would all meet him sixty-two years later…
