Like a Dream From Long Ago

Martin-Luther-King-Jr-Quotes-1008On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Dave reflects on his own childhood and the era he was born into, the 1960’s.

Perceptions change over time, and while many memories fade in the dark, some remain, like duck and cover drills in Kindergarten. A drill for an event that today seems remote, but at the time may have been likely to start at any moment.

In those days came leaders, such Dr. king and President Kennedy, and even the much maligned Nikita Khrushchev, all of whom contributed to making the world safer and better.

Is the dream still alive? It’s harder to say today than perhaps ever. But the one thing for certain is that there are no leaders like those of a bygone era.
