A Dishonorable Discharge

6a00d8341c7de353ef015434cbeb17970c-600wiWe keep being told that the California economy is back on track and roaring like a lion. But the people who keep telling us that are more interested in power than in truth. You read headlines recently proclaiming that the unemployment rate had “fallen” in the state and that this indicated that we are moving upwards. The problem is that the numbers are, of course, cherry picked and essentially meaningless. First off, in the entire state for the month of December, the number of jobs created was 700. That’s it, and it’s not a typo. Seven Hundred jobs. In December. The rate of unemployment falling has NOTHING to do with new jobs, it is about PEOPLE WHO HAVE DROPPED OUT of the workforce. One wonders why anybody would bother with College these days, with the debt incurred for the poor job market to be faced. The Pollyanish Unclothed Emperors who run the State have finally managed to convince people who are suffering a depression that everything is golden and they should just give them even more power. Mostly because the State’s people are too dumbed down to do the math.

Meanwhile, things are so great here in the Golden State, that EVEN THE PORN INDUSTRY IS… PULLING OUT. Whatever you think of the industry (and who doesn’t?), the fact is that is was a multi-Billion dollar industry in California. There is more to it than just the economy. Porn has long been regarded as “free speech,” which the State and LA County have attacked through various rules and regulations that, well…  inhibited production of the films. There are greener pastures in other places such as Nevada and even Florida, which, let’s face it, there probably no better place to make a hot and sticky film in than a hundred degrees heat and 101% humidity with stage lights and while wearing heavy makeup.

bergdahlSoon-to-be ex-Sergeant Bowe Berghdahl WILL FACE CHARGES OF DESERTION according to reports. This report, commonly around many websites, has yet to make the NY Times, was widely expected in Military circles, but constantly downplayed by the Administration which once referred to him as “honorable” with no evidence whatsoever to support that claim. Now again, I do understand that many of you are angry over the release of the five PLRI terrorists in “exchange” for Bergdahl. I stand by my long running commentary that (a) the five were going to be released anyway, regardless of whether there was an exchange or not, (b) the adults in the military, and particularly SecDef Chuck Hagel, saw an opportunity to get a traitor back, and (c) convinced the President and the White House that it would be a cool thing to do, (d) they lied and (f) it ultimately cost Hagel his job as SecDef when Obama found out what really happened. We can decry the “exchange” until we are blue in the face, but I believe that the evidence shows that the Pentagon took advantage of the Presidents lack of understanding of the seriousness of what Bergdahl had done, his naïveté in dealing with the military in general, and his ego to get what they wanted, which was getting a traitor back.  They accomplished that, and made the President look bad in the process in a way that he CANNOT respond publicly. How can we dislike that?

By the by, it won’t happen, but here is what the UCMJ has to say about the penalty of desertion:

“Any person found guilty of desertion or attempt to desert shall be punished, if the offense is committed in time of war, by death or such other punishment as a court-martial may direct, but if the desertion or attempt to desert occurs at any other time, by such punishment, other than death, as a court-martial may direct.”

Frankly, execution would be too good for him, too simple. Oddly enough, I don’t even want him in Leavenworth for more than a few years. He needs to be on the streets, shamed and embarrassed, so people can look a coward and a traitor in the eye and know what one looks like.

I am headed off to put the main pieces of office furniture and install the GROGER-9000 Super Computer in the home studio to continue headed toward the dream I have of launching my business very soon.

Have a great day and enjoy the moment!
