Birth Control & Revenge Porn

a_how_important_is_it_to_have_highly_effective_birth_controlThis story about BETTER BIRTH CONTROL FOR TEENS has generated a good deal of debate on the FACEBOOK PAGE, some of it passionate and some of it humorous. But throughout it all, the question remains, what is the best way to instill in young teens and children the values you wish to pass on? Is it as simple as “They’re going to do it anyway, so let’s avoid the abortions?” Or is there something to the idea of teaching abstinence? What do you think? You can post on the FACEBOOK PAGE or eMail me your answer (HERE)

Today we have the news that a Pittman High Teacher has had a partially nude photograph of an English teacher and Cheer Coach REPORTED TO THE SCHOOL’S PRINCIPLE by “a concerned parent.” It appears that one teacher my have sent out the picture as “revenge porn,” which shows that not even teachers are paying attention to whatever the legislature is doing, like passing laws outlawing revenge porn.  Guess it’s true that even the few American’s tasked with teaching the Three “C’s”  of modern education don’t have a clue what’s going on either. Of course, the Principal sais that he was “not aware” of any relationship, so it could be that the anonymous parent is the one with the Photoshop program, to much free time and an axe of some sort to grind. Ether way, nobody involved has any clear that this is against the law in the California. Not to mention the act that it’s just plain not ethical. But hey, why worry about that when there is somebody to be embarrassed and/or harassed?

More and more communities are going to early voting in a failing attempt to increase voter participation. The notion that more people will vote if we give them more time to do so has not held up to the facts, which show that voter participation continues to fall even in the face of increasing voter registration (another story for another day). In any case, Constitution Daily takes on the question, IS THERE A CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO EARLY VOTING? It is an interesting academic question, but the reality is that (a) the government is just fine with less participation and (b) early or late, neither Party seems to understand the dynamic as to why voters are not showing up at the polls. Until those questions are addressed, early voting won’t matter anyway.

Supervisor Terry Withrow joins us today at 4pm to talk about the Wood Colony Agreement that he and the County have decided to pursue with the City of Modesto. My position remains that unless Modesto gets to define Wood Colony (you know, Wood Colony… Proper), the Mayor will not sign and will blame the County for “threatening” Wood Colony which he just wants to protect from the evil developers… except for the un-Proper part, that is. That he is fine with developing into more empty business parks for Modesto.
