287,000 People voted FOR Leeland Yee

So Conservatives awake today to the reality that your choices for Governor in November are now NEEL KA$HKARI OR JERRY BROWN. The traditional, “Neel loves freedom, Jerry doesn’t” line has already begun from the GOP and here’s the thing, they don’t just believe, they expect that Conservatives WILL vote for Ka$hkari in November. It won’t be enough to win, but they will gain two things: keeping the Conservative candidate off the ticket and getting you to vote for the moderate. This may also be the one election where it simply doesn’t matter. There is no way Ka$hkari wins and the GOP knows that. So even if Conservatives stay home or undervote, it won’t effect the outcome of the Governors race. There will be a lot of Initiatives and other races on the ballot in November, so it’s not time to quit.

Looks like I was wrong about Pat Withrow pulling the upset. He had a lot of support in the rural and southern ends of the County, but despite a lackluster – some might say “non-existent” campaign – Steve Moore retains his seat as Sheriff by quite a wide margin.

Statewide, 287,000 people (and growing as late ballots are counted), enough people to put him into 3rd place in the Secretary of State race, voted for Leeland Yee. When people ask you “What is wrong with California?” There’s your answer right there.

So apparently one of you listeners thought that I said yesterday that the Army is going to shoot Sgt Bergdahl. Kevin informs me of a rather terse eMail this morning in which I am taken to task for being crazy to say that the Army is going to shoot him, which – since I DID NOT SAY THAT – I would have to agree with being crazy. Article 85 of the UCMJ, which I did read on the air, says that the punishment for desertion in time of war is “death or other such punishment as the Court Martial may decide.” Can the Army shoot him? Yes. Will they, not a snowball’s chance in hell. This is never going to a Court Martial for two reasons: One – this family, Afghan Bob and his son, are trying to set themselves up as political activists with a statement to make – so he’ll plead guilty because frankly, I believe, he’s proud of what he did. Secondly, sentencing him to death, albeit in my humble opinion the right ruling, simply gives Obama a platform to stop the US from shooting him via a Presidential pardon and commutation of sentence. I have no clue how at least one eMailer thought that I claimed that the US is “going” to shoot him for desertion. And yes, I stand by my argument that trading five useless Talibani’s is worth getting this deserter back. You don’t have to agree with me, but if you want to argue with me, use logic and facts, not emotion and hatred. Already the highly predictable DEFENSE OF BERGDAHL has begun, which is why I stick to the simple facts that he clearly violated Article 85 and the 11 General Orders. Those two things alone will put him away under the UCMJ for a long while. And IF the President decides to interfere, then he really will see an outraged public, the likes of which he’s never seen before.

And in case you think that we and others are simply giving up on and ignoring the ONGOING VA scandal, we’re scheduled to have a very, very special guest at 5:15pm today to talk about that exact thing. Don’t miss it.

Lastly today, let me take just one more opportunity to thank you listeners and readers for your support and participation over these last seven years. In Sept of 2007, I took a 90 day temp job – I even still have one of the eMails from near the end of that 90 days saying good riddance to me (it’s from  guy who still listens and calls) – and it was a steep learning curve. After all the years and the shows, Clear Channel has elected to put me and the show under contract. Yes, it’s been a lot of hard work and now it’s going to be even more work, but you had a big hand in accomplishing this. And I just want to say to you how much I appreciate you, the listeners and readers, and how excited I am to get on to the next phase of The Dave Bowman Show. Thank you!
