I know that we did a Top 5 on this once upon a time, but I still say that one of – if not the – worst way to wake up is with a leg cramp.

This is also the final broadcast day of May. I tell you, this has been the fastest year ever since I started doing this… Today is my youngest daughter’s High School Graduation. Because of that, the 5pm hour will be a repeat of the 3pm hour, but it will also be interesting as the question will deal with MID and hw much are residential users subsidizing farm users, and is that a bad thing?

In the NFL, there – well, there used to be, a 15 yard penalty for “piling on.” No such thing exists in Washington, so WATCH AS MORE AND MORE POLITICIANS jump onto the “Shinseki must Go!” pile as it becomes more and more politically acceptable to do so. Shinseki is not going to go quietly, although he promised to get rd of some senior staff. But how will that change the CULTURE at the VA Medical in which 66% of the staff s just fine and dandy with non-procedural compliance?

Literally as I was typing that, he resigned. Now, let’s get Montel Williams in that seat, ASAP.

Shinseki being gone WILL NOT SOLVE the problems at the VA. The problem is a culture and a mindset of invincibility and a lack of understanding of the purpose. The solution will be painful and hard but MUST be focused on the reason that there is a VA in the first place and NOT on the “feelings” or “needs” of employees.

Part of the problems – and let’s be frank, there are HUGE problems, with the Jerry Brown Memorial Straws (the Delta Tunnels) is that nobody understands the entire project. And it’s worse than that because how can the public comment on SOMETHING THAT IS UTTERLY INCOMPREHENSIBLE?

Yesterday the Sacramento Bee had a graphic showing how much GOP Registration has fallen in each County. In Stanislaus it was around 18% and in San Joaquin some 22%. HERE IS AN ARTICLE from two years ago discussing the falling GOP registration levels and “what to do about it.” The upshot is that the GOP was planning to launch a all-out paid registration drive. Remember that the guy who wrote this piece was a senior GOP State Leader (and current Lt. Gov Candidate). Does this explain some of the focus on “Voter Registration” schemes instead of Voter relationship development? Does it also help explain why ever more money is poured into “Registration” with a dwindling effect?

Admit it, you had no idea who WILLIAM DEVANE was – just that guy you’ve seen but don’t know his name – until these damned “Buy Gold” commercials started running every ten minutes…
