Sometimes The Bull, He Wins
An old but classic joke, and a great story out of Spain. The bull, senior… SOMETIMES HE WINS.
So Neel “Kan’t Win Either” Ka$hkari was at a lunch the other day and GAVE A CLASSIC ANSWER as to why he voted for Obama, worked at TARP giving away Billions (not his, of course) and his other “moderate” social positions. He said that being a Republican is about personally responsible. Hashtag #irony
My question remains the same as it has been all election long: For years the GOP sycophants have told Conservatives that we MUST vote for the GOP nominee because we have to. Will the GOP mainliners vote for Donnelly, who loves freedom unlike Brown? Or will they stomp their feet and hold their nose and vote for (gasp) a Conservative Republican?
For whatever it’s worth, I have never been a disciple of the theory that ALL politicians should have military experience. Certainly I love and value it (and mine), but the Federal Government was supposed to draw from a large cross section of of the people of the country, and the military isn’t. Something like 1-2% of the population right now is in the service. Not to even get into the idea that not all service is combat related, so what exactly are we looking for in a Congressman/Senator? On the other hand having a Congress that is BECOMING MORE AND MORE “PUBLIC SERVANT” – as if Military service isn’t? – is every bit as harmful – and dangerous – as having an all military Government would be.
Memorial day is upon us. Many will enjoy the weekend as the first of summer and to be frank, I will too, as Ben and I head out for Castle on Sunday. But let us not forget the men and women who secured for us the blessings of Liberty and of Freedom by their sacrifice. Losing a family member in service to our nation is unimaginably difficult, and yet also a point of pride. Over the past decade plus, we have added many, many heroes to the rolls. Each one is an individual with dreams and passions. Let us be careful to not forget that.
